Qamer Ghafoor led the litigation team.

- Company B - Acting for a company in a case concerning the liability of engineers for negligent design of a rainwater drainage system in a multi-million pound property development. The claim is worth in excess of £500,000. Advising the client on a number of complex legal issues, including the enforceability of the engineers' broach limitation of liability provisions and the appropriate measure of damages, whether cost of works or diminution in value. Qamer Ghafoor led the litigation team.

- Mr G M from Derby - acted for Mr M in a professional negligence action against his previous solicitors, who were negligent in their handling of a clinical negligence claim for Mr M. The solicitors had failed to serve the court proceedings within the relevant period and the second claim was also out of time. The only recourse Mr M had was to sue his solicitors for negligence. When Mr M came to us he was not in a position to pay privately at all and he had no insurance policies in place that would allow him to bring a claim for professional negligence claim against his previous solicitors. We agreed to take the case on a CFA and the claim was vigorously defended by the Solicitor's insurers. Mr M succeeded in his claim and the case settled for £188,000. We do not believe that without our involvement and accepting a significant risk Mr M would have had any other firm acting for him. He clearly approached many many law firms and none of them were prepared to act for him unless he was prepared to pay privately or if he had adequate insurance in place. Zaf Bashir led the litigation team.
